The Batinah expressway project comprises the construction of an expressway class road with a dual 2x4 lane configuration through the Batinah region. The Batinah expressway is the westward continuation of the under construction Muscat expressway which extends from Al-Naseem garden towards Khatmat Malahah near the UAE border. Package 5 comprises part of main expressway from chanage 180+000 to 221+000 (41 Km of expressway).

 

Description of work:

- 2 Cloverleaf interchange at Falaj Al Qabail at 196+500 & Sohar industrial area at 205+100.

- 1 Partial cloverleaf interchange at Liwa at 213+500.

- 3 Wadi bridges: Wadi AL Jizi, Wadi Bani Umer and Wadi Fizh.

- 4 Underpass bridges: U.P bridge1, Gas line U.P, Sohar U.P and Railway U.P.

- 1 Flyover bridge at 183+200.

- 4 Weigh stations.

- 2 Service areas and 4 reat areas.

- The project also comprises 130 single and multi-cell reinforced concrete box culverts, median drainage system, dykes and embankment protections. The total length of the Wadi bridges is 1380 meters (658+493+229 meters) consisting of pre-stressed concrete girders with pile foundations. The highway bridges on interchanges consist of box girders type brodges.
